Alternator works perfectly. Went in without any issues. Only issue I had was trying to get my core charge back. Wasted 20 minutes at a store only for them to pretty much give up. The told me they didn't do core returns in the store yet I had paperwork stating they do. Had to call the customer service number just to get it done. They sent me to another location and I was in and out in about 5 minutes. I'd like to think this was an isolated incident but it's happen twice at the same store.

1995 DODGE RAM 1500 (5.2L V8 Magnum engine). Had low voltage problem (12V) with the alternator (after wasting time swapping Battery, shining up Terminals, swapping Fuses & Relays). Nothing worked. Until I put on this RE-MANUFACTURED alternator from Advance. $96 + $25 Core (the cheapest in-stock alternator local store had). 1 YR. WARRANTY. Luckily, auto repair shop I've taken several vehicles to swapped the Pulley from the old the new one for me (reached for my wallet, but owner wouldn't even accept money). Good deal. 🙂 Puts out 14.2V now!

THE PROBLEM I HAD WAS WITH THE MOUNTING SPACER- (BUSHING) THAT IS SUPPOSED TO SLIDE UP FLUSH WITH THE ALTERNATOR MOUNTING BRACKET - THE LONG ALTERNATOR BOLT GOES THROUGH BOTH- THE BUSHING IS CONTINUOUS AND HAS NO SPLIT- AND THE MATERIAL IS A VERY HARD METAL - THE BUSHIBNG WOULD NOT BUDGE-NOT MOVE AT ALL - SO I RETURNED THE ALTERNATOR [...] AND GOT MY EXCHANGE ALTERNATOR - INSTALLED IT AND IT WORKS GREAT- THE REPLACEMENT ALTERNATOR HAS WHAT APPEARS TO BE A BRASS MATERIAL MOUNTING BUSHING- AND THIS MAKES ALL THE DIFERENCE -THE BUSHING ON THE REPLACEMANT ALTERNATOR MOVED AS IT SHOULD TO BRIDGE THE GAP IN THE MOUNTING BRACKET AND ALTERNATOR- [...] MY RECOMENDATION IS TO START USING A SPLIT BUSHING OR SOFTER MATERIAL FOR THE BUSHING - SO IT WILL NOT BIND AND FREEZE UP DURING INSTALLATION - THANK YOU FOR READING MY COMMENTS- I GRATLY APPRECIATE IT!! Quite happy that I was able to find an alternator for my 1988 LeBaron at a store within 10 miles. Would have liked if it could have included some installation guidelines as even the Haynes Manual wasn't terribly clear and didn't take into account the tight quarters caused by having air conditioning. I had to remove the oil filter and upper radiator hose to provide enough room for removal and installation! However, as I said I was still pleased that I was able to get the right part at a good price at a store withing easy driving distance. The second point was that the electrical connections were at different points on the alternator but that was easily adjusted.

I replaced the idler and accessory pulleys but passed on the alternator late last year. Replaced the drive belt too. It sounded like crickets were under the hood, and the interior lights were like votive candle lights. I jumped on this 120 amp alternator and wow, what a difference! It was a bit challenging to install, Thank you very much Chrysler, but it fits and works. This unit replaced a Denso that didn't seem to be as high quality that you might think if you have experience with Denso. This unit is "beefier" than the Denso and well constructed. 200K miles on my '98 Plymouth Grand Voyager and it runs great. That's why I buy my parts from Advance Auto. Prices are good, availability is "usually" good and I like the counter guys at my local store. If you think you need an alternator and your car has high miles, go with this one, you'll be glad you did!

Alternator looked and felt to be built well. Only time will tell how durable it it, but As I put it on my 1997 Crhysler Town & country, I expect it to outlive the vehicle. The instalation was very hard due to Chrysler engineers cramming things in with out regard to eventual replacement.

Thought I would play it safe and buy new. Bad choice. Car is worse now having replaced 5 days ago. Apparently the bearings were defective. I now have to pay to have it uninstalled and take it back to the store for them to test. If I am lucky they'll give me a new one and I can go have it installed again.

Highlights---- The New Alt is only avail online, not locally rebuilt is only avail locally could not ship to store Great quality, lifetime warranty, Brand New, Direct fit for my 06 Dodge Grand Caravan Horrible packaging/non-existent with shipping ------------ 3 broken alts shipped to me 1st shipped in shipping box with soaking wet alt box inside of plastic bag, but outer shipping box was dry, it also had a cracked and bent ground pin who in there right mind would pick up a drenched Electrical alternator place it wet in to a plastic bag and box it up and ship it. 2nd and 3rd shipped in just the box the alternator comes in. both had heavy shipping wear and both the plastic connector plug broken. talked to a good customer rep, who had factory overnight air ship a new product to me, it arrived in perfect shape I am happy with the Alt, just beware of shipping, thankfully I didn't have to go out of my way to return the damaged ones, I drive passed Advance, I just wish they would ship to the store, but I was told that it was not an option

Was very simple to remove old and install new (gotta love older vehicles for that). The very last nut, for the ground wire, broke off inside alternator. So had to take back off to return it. First one was able to get overnight, the replacement will take two days to arrive. So now that's two days of work missed...

AA didn't warn me but many of these 1-yr warranty alternators have the wrong width pulley. Measure the belt track on the old alt, or better yet, remove it first and bring it to the store. AA was kind enough to switch the pulleys for me. You can do it yourself if you have an impact wrench.

Easy to install and hook up. The first one lasted 8 months, the second lasted 6 months. Going to pick up the third one today (12/9/11), will it last 4 months or less? Hopefully it will last a long time or it's 3 strikes your out.
