M/T FLYWHEEL BOLT

Flywheel and flex plate bolts play an important role in the performance and safety of race cars and street machines alike. That is why the fastener experts at ARP have developed special bolts that are far superior to OEM hardware. ARP offers two styles of flywheel/flex plate bolts: High Performance and Pro Series. They are both forged from aerospace alloy and heat treated prior to thread rolling and machining. Both feature an exclusive, flat, 12 point head design and larger than stock shank diameter for increased strength and improved flywheel register. The popular High Performance series is rated at 180,000 PSI, and the premium grade Pro Series, originally developed for NASCAR competition, has a 200,000 PSI rating.

Most flex plates are made of a thick piece of sheet metal with bolt holes for the torque converter and teeth for the starter. The job of a flex plate is to allow for expansion of the torque converter as engine RPM increases. The constant expansion and contraction of a flex plate over time can result cracks and/or shearing of the flex plate. A damaged flex plate can create serious and expensive damage. Broken flex plates cannot be repaired, they must be replaced. The assembly is then Zinc plated and treated with a Chromate Conversion Coating for added corrosion resistance and durability. The Hays 10-130 is a flywheel designed for use with an internally balanced Chevy V8. This is a 168 tooth flywheel that weighs 30lbs. Fits all 1955-1985 Chevy V8s except 400 and 454 engines. Hays steel flywheels are manufactured from certified billet material that will not break under the stress of high RPM and severe punishment of racing. This flywheel is drilled for Diaphragm, Long style, Borg & Beck and Mark XII style clutches.
