27-6509 Steering Box. 1968 Pontiac GTO. Purchased to correct another aftermarket steering box that could not make the full turning radius. This one has about 2.7 turns lock to lock, but more importantly, this is the box that lets me make u-turns in one try, just like the original box did with the 4.5 turns lock to lock.

My total turns lock to lock is 3 1/4. This unit fits perfect even though the description says 3-3/4 to 4-1/4. I put it on a 71 Chevelle.

They had the product IN STOCK, at a very competitive price and it was ready for pick up when stated. My shop installed it and it went in without a hitch.

Box was ok, it had some kind of nasty looking gear oil inside but it got flushed out when installing. Feels a little tight when first installed but is getting better.

The Cardone steering gear for my '84 Chevy was the exact, right one. I decided to have a mechanic in a shop put it in--no trouble at all!

The first one I ordered in was a box that had 3 bolt holes, not 4 like original. Output shaft had wrong number of splines. Input shaft was the wrong size. Everything was wrong. After loosing the $14 to have it shipped to my local store, I ordered another one online with free shipping and that one seems to be correct except for the piston size but oh well. Hopefully it is quality, only time will tell

The 970 gearbox appears to be a well built product however the specifications given for this product are incorrect. The unit I received did not have a .8125 input spline but a .750 input spline. So if you're looking for a .8125 input spline you might be out of luck and the company who rebuilt it was of no help when contacted.

Total garbage . More play in it than my worn out gear box . They put new seals in it and a coat of black paint and call that a rebuild . Total BS

I got a great deal on this box with coupon and speed perks. The box seems to function adequately. Definitely less than 3 turns lock to lock. Only complaint is after install, my steering wheel is no longer straight when the front wheels are straight. I am going to change my steering wheel soon anyway, so I am hoping I can reclock the wheel to get things in alignment again. This was not an installation error. 1988 S10, steering shaft will only go one way. Pitman arm had to fall where the splines would allow. No clue if box was rebuilt a little off or what. I would recommend, however I would also keep in mind it may not be 100% from where your old one was.

My 79 J10 had a 4 bolt mounting system for the power steering gear. The 16507 box as delivered has only 3 bolts for mounting. I suggest checking the number of mount holes before ordering.

This is not a direct replacement for jeep yj that requires 4 mounting bolts. This only has 3 bolt holes. Lares says Jeep never made a box for wrangler with 4 bolt mounting. I disagree.

I bought this box to replace my worn 130k mile steering box and this lares gearbox has more play in it than my factory one did right out of the box. No way was this ever tested they just spray painted it halfway and put it in a box. Don't buy!

Works great, easy to put in. Loud till all the air is out of it and that took a short ride. I searched for a long time before buying the Laris one and I'm glad I did.

Newly installed steering box allows nearly 5" of free steering wheel play. Since these boxes do not adjust externally I have a boat anchor.
