To improve wear and corrosion resistance, valves can be chromium plated or nitrided. These coatings are used to improve the compatibility of the valve stem surface to the valve guide material. If necessary, exhaust valves (and in some cases also intake valves) can be hard-faced. In hard-facing, a more heat and wear resistant material is welded to form the valve seat. Seat hard-facing extends the valve life significantly.

This BladeRunner Intercooler represents the next generation of intercoolers. Designed specifically for the 2016-2017 BMW M2 (F87) L6-3.0L (t) with the N55 engine, this BladeRunner intercooler utilizes a 5″ bar and plate core design. This design outflows the factory tube and fin core design, while the 3/16″ TIG-Welded end tanks offer superior strength and durability. In testing, this intercooler showed flow gains up to 15% and lowers the intake air temperatures.
