The Secondary Air Injection system is an emission control device designed to pump fresh air into the engines exhaust system to reduce harmful emissions typically during cold engine warm-up. The diverter valve is a gate that allows oxygen into the exhaust but prevents exhaust from backing up into the air pump system.
