The A/C Pressure Sensor reports system pressures to the on-board computer, in turn allowing the computer to properly and efficiently control the compressor, fans and system levels. An improperly functioning A/C Pressure Sensor will provide erratic or inaccurate readings to on-board computers severely affecting system performance and function. Without reliable and accurate data from a properly functioning A/C Pressure Sensor, on-board computers are unable to protect the safety of critical components and the system as a whole which can lead to excessive wear and tear on critical components and costly system damage.

The Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) sensor provides a signal identifying the location of the accelerator pedal to the engine control module. As the vehicle operator requests various degrees of torque from the engine the signal from the sensor provides the engine computer the necessary information to implement the request. The sensor provides two positive slope signals that have an offset voltage range and increase at different rates, the two signals from the sensor provide the engine computer with two unique signal inputs ensuring safety should one signal fail.

The temperature of various systems must be reported to the engine control module (ECM) as well as other operating system controllers in the vehicle. Coolant temperature, cabin temperature, exhaust temperature and ambient temperature are just a few systems reported by a temperature sensor. The temperature sensor is fed 5 volts by the systems computer, within the sensor housing will be a thermistor, or dropping resistor whose resistance value will change as the temperature surrounding it changes. Changing resistance in the circuit will change the volt signal at the processor indicating the current operating value.
