2016 Dodge Challenger Engine Cylinder Deactivation Solenoids

The Engine Cylinder Deactivation Solenoid is designed to deactivate one or more valve pushrods which will prevent the air/fuel mixture from entering the combustion chamber thus deactivating those cylinders. This unique design allows engine displacement to be reduced during low power need conditions lowering tailpipe emissions and fuel consumption.

The original solenoids in multiple displacement systems (MDS) on certain Chrysler engines fail when their plastic housings become brittle from underhood heat and the oil passages become clogged by sludge. That failure causes a loss of power, rough idle and decreased fuel economy. Troubleshooting the symptoms of a failing MDS requires inspection of all four of the engine’s MDS solenoids, whose fragile housings often break during removal from the engine. This OE FIX MDS solenoid features a more durable aluminum housing and premium compression-tested O-rings to restore the system pressure required to deactivate the cylinder during MDS operation.
