2002 Toyota Sequoia Throttle Body Motors

In most modern vehicles the throttle pedal inside the vehicle no longer has a direct connection to the throttle plate in the throttle body. The throttle pedal will have two position sensors which indicate the movement of the throttle pedal by the vehicle operator. The signal from the throttle pedal position sensors goes to the engine control module (ECM) which in turn sends a signal to the throttle body motor in the throttle body. The throttle body motor is known as a stepper motor, or a motor that responds and can reverse direction in milliseconds. A clean throttle plate is critical to the function of this motor, any buildup of carbon will cause the motor to work harder which will shorten the life of the motor.
