The Ignition Knock (Detonation) Sensor monitors vibrations caused by engine knock or detonation to alter the ignition timing and prevent detonation. A piezoelectric crystal generates a varying voltage based upon engine vibration intensity to delay ignition timing to help prevent severe and costly engine damage.
