This high performance HEI module provides your plugs with more spark over the stock module. The solid state electronics provide high coil out put and superior reliability. The Dwell control circuit ensures, long consistent coil charging. The current control circuit protects against coil over heating. This module fits most GM Remote Mount Coil HEI distributors for V8 engines.

The harnesses plug directly into your factory coil and harness then four color coded wires plug into the corresponding wires of the MSD.

For a long time, racers have known that one of the best things to do to an engine to improve performance is to stabilize the ignition timing. The MSD Flying Magnet Crank Trigger system does exactly that by using four magnets embedded in an aluminum wheel. Although similar in appearance to other crank triggers, the MSD Flying Magnet design works on a different principle. Most crank triggers have a wheel, with steel studs sticking out, bolted to the harmonic balancer. As the crankshaft turns, the studs pass by a stationary magnetic pick-up, triggering the ignition. This pick-up can be triggered by other bolts, debris, or even vibrations which will cause a loss of power or engine damage.

The Mallory Promaster Classic series ignition coil is designed to meet today’s specialized ignition requirements. This coil features a faster rise time and increased spark duration (compared to stock) to increase performance. It has a glass-filled polyester case and oil-filled construction to ensure a long life and no energy loss from arcing. This coil also offers excellent wire retention with a spark plug type secondary post, and brass contact terminals.

Top off your GM Ignition system with these great new replacement coils. The GM Coils have MSD performance in factory-style housings. MSD designed these Coils by combining our Blaster Coil experience with E-core coil efficiency. Each coil has a unique turns ratio plus there is lower primary resistance than the stock coil. This all amounts to a bolt-in replacement coil that produces more output voltage. The Coils will work with stock ignition systems as well as MSD equipped cars and trucks.

HEI owners now have a choice to replace their stock coil with the MSD High Energy Unitized Coil for GM HEI Distributors. This coil is a direct replacement of the stock coil and offers increased spark energy when used with the MSD HEI Module, PN 83647.

“Engineered from the inside out, the 8.5 offers everything you have ever wanted in a wire, incredibly low resistance without electronic interference. In a single 12 inch length of Super Conductor Wire there is only 40 – 50 ohms of resistance. That is the lowest resistance of any helically wound wire. To accomplish this, we use a copper alloy conductor due to it’s great voltage carrying capabilities. The low resistance results in less loss in spark energy so more reaches the spark plug. The conductor is wound extremely tight around a special center core. So tight in fact, that there is over 40 feet of conductor wrapped into a single foot of plug wire. This winding procedure, combined with a ferro-magnetic impregnated center core, produces an extremely effective Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) “”choke””.
