The Starter Relay is part of the starting system that carries the high amperage required when the starter motor is engaged. The solenoid is typically energized by the starter switch when commanded by the vehicle operator. The starting system consists of the rotating electrical motor and solenoid which may be mounted on the starter motor or mounted remotely. The electric motor drives a gear which engages with the engine’s flywheel located at the rear of the motor, when the motor is energized, the motor will turn the engines crankshaft. Individual motor components are available to service any failed part within the motor such as brushes, bushings, and starter drive unit.
