1983 AMC Concord Ignition Wires

Most modern electronic ignition systems require suppression style wires to preserve sensitive components. Flame-Thrower 8mm Custom fit MAGx2 wires provide enhanced RFI suppression and dual current paths for more power delivered to the spark plug. Our custom wire sets have factory terminated ends for a superior connection and perfect fit, without cutting, crimping and splicing.

The spiral wound alloy core provides low resistance ensuring maximum energy transfer to the spark plugs while high noise suppression keeps noise interference out of on-board electronics.

“Engineered from the inside out, the 8.5 offers everything you have ever wanted in a wire; incredibly low resistance without electronic interference. In a single 12 inch length of Super Conductor Wire there is only 40 – 50 ohms of resistance. That is the lowest resistance of any helically wound wire. To accomplish this, we use a copper alloy conductor due to it’s great voltage carrying capabilities. The low resistance results in less loss in spark energy so more reaches the spark plug. The conductor is wound extremely tight around a special center core. So tight in fact, that there is over 40 feet of conductor wrapped into a single foot of plug wire. This winding procedure, combined with a ferro-magnetic impregnated center core, produces an extremely effective Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) “”choke””. This choke, or suppression capability, keeps the EMI inside the wire where it cannot interfere with other electronics on your vehicle. The outer sleeve that surrounds the conductor assembly is just as impressive. A proprietary blend of silicone and synthetic material produce a sleeve that is highly resistant to high heat as well as abrasion and tears. The MSD’s 8.5mm spark plug terminals feature Dual Crimp terminals. As the name implies, the terminals feature two crimps; one for the sleeve of the wire and another separate crimp to grasp the conductor. As you’d expect from the trusted Mallory name, the 8mm red silicon jacket withstands temperatures up to 550 DegF and looks great under the hood.

The traditional ACCEL combination of yellow wire and red spark plug boots has been added to these SuperStock Spiral Core 5000 Series wire sets, which feature color-matched wire and spark plug boots in blue, black, and red. With only 500 ohms/ft. of resistance, more ignition energy can reach the spark plug, producing a longer-lasting, hotter spark flame kernel. The results is higher performance through improved efficiency, quicker throttle response, and reduced emissions. This 8mm wire’s double silicone construction is rated to 550 degrees F. The high-gloss wire jacket resists moisture, chemicals, and heat extremes for longer life and great looks. The fiberglass braid adds greater pull strength and terminal retention, while the stainless steel spark plug terminals provide excellent long life, electrical conductivity, and corrosion resistance. Both universal and custom-fit applications are available for early and late model cars and trucks.

CARQUEST Premium Spark Plug Wire Sets are engineered to restore ignition wire reliability and performance. They are designed to meet or exceed OE design requirements, performance, fit, form and function of the OE wire. Stainless steel magnetic winding delivers maximum voltage to the spark plug for more powerful, and longer spark resulting in optimum engine performance while reducing the chance for misfire, and eliminating radio static.

ACCEL’s SuperStock 4000 series spark plug wire sets are designed to upgrade an OE ignition system for high-spark delivery levels for street driven applications. The 450 degree F rated silicone jacket is extruded over a tightly woven, rugged fiberglass braid. The braid is applied over high dielectric strength EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) inner insulation for ignition wire performance that exceeds SAE specifications.
