Although Melling recommends the installation of a new oil pump, Melling oil pump repair kits are the preferred choice when a rebuilder has the desire to reuse the original oil pump casting or front timing cover.

An oil pump shaft guide is necessary to connect the oil pump drive shaft to the intermediate drive shaft. Melling recommends installing a new oil pump shaft guide when it is needed.
