The Dayco curved radiator hose features knitted reinforcement, a protective sleeve and a synthetic EPDM rubber construction for high-strength performance, protection against abrasion and resistance to oil, mud, salt, road debris, ozone and coolants. It can also withstand temperature variations of -40 Deg. F (-40 Deg. C) to +257 Deg. F (+125 Deg. C). The inner base tube is reinforced with knitted rayon for maximum strength and burst resistance for the life of the hose.

This hose is designed to prevent splitting, ballooning and elongation as well as resist ozone and other detrimental environmental elements, coolants and temperature variations of -40øF (-40øC) to +257øF (+125øC). With corrugations that provide excellent hose flexibility without flattening or collapsing, the Dayco flex radiator hose also features a helical steel coil spring for increased flexibility.

In vehicles of today, a hose has to be designed to withstand the stresses of modern, more compact but powerful engines that run hotter and at a higher pressure. In short, the smaller but more powerful engines of today work a lot harder than the larger engines that were standard before. More heat is generated, higher burst pressures are required in cooling system components, and hoses have to be made tougher to withstand these demands. Mackay’s research and development chemists have developed new rubber formulations and manufacturing processes that ensure Mackay hoses meet the greater wear and heat demands created by modern engines. Rubber compounds used in automotive hoses today are predominantly synthetic rubber formulation. All Mackay coolant hoses are made from EPDM compounds that are highly resistant to ozone attack. Hoses made from some other rubber compounds may be subject to ozone deterioration.
