      For step by step instructions i recommend that you go to your local Advance Auto Parts store and purchase a repair manual.

      A block heater goes into a freeze plug hole.
      You have to drain the coolant, remove the freeze plug & install the heater in its place.
      It can range from easy to almost impossible to do, depending on the vehicle.
