I made my first 2 purchases with AAP these last 2 weeks. On the second purchase a Wearever Disc Brake Caliper, Front Left Part No 19-2985 was defective. The shop put it on and it leaked. Had to get a replacement but was charged by the shop because they had to take my vehicle off the lift until I could get a replacement part to them. Asked to be refunded by AAP for the charge I received because of the defective part they sold me. They acted like they didn't care. Glad my shop caught the leak before I got on the road with my children in the vehicle. I'n my line of work (manufacturing) if we receive a defective part, suppliers replace and reimburse us for any losses we incurred because of that defective product, so we will continue to use them as our supplier. But AAP store management didn't care.

Comments about Wearever Unloaded Caliper - Import:

I bought these to upgrade the front brakes on my 1999 4Runner as the Tundra brakes are a bit bigger, offer much better stopping, and bolt directly up with the OE wheels. Ignore the comments about surface rust. All calipers do this. Its just looks. The problem I had is after 2 years, one of the pistons froze and I am now going to have to replace both calipers and pads all around. It's a good thing I do all my own work.

One bad after a year

By

Comments about Wearever Unloaded Caliper - Import:

I replaced both front calipers on my 4runner. The RF is still fine, but the LF went bad after a year. These are lifetime warranty so I'll just have to do it again...worried the RF will go bad soon though. Frustrating to have to the work twice (and maybe more as we plan on keeping this thing forever).

After replacing a front right and a front left caliper, the FL started rusting almost immediately. The FR still looks perfect 2 months later. The FL will need a replacement.

They do rust quickly

Comments about Wearever Unloaded Caliper - Import:

They looked great when you get them but they began to rust immediately. They seem to work well but buy a can of caliper paint and paint them before you install them, you'll be happy you did. I took mine off today, removed the rust, and repainted them. We'll see how long the paint holds up. You get what you pay for..a cheap caliper.

Not Recommended Supplier

Comments about Wearever Unloaded Caliper - Import:

Calipers missing hardware. Charged sales tax on core, but refunded core without sales tax. Calipers different brands, different colors, different packaging. Retail price to consumers with sales tax was lower than my wholesale tax exempt account with Advanced Auto Parts. No wonder professionals don't want to use Advance Auto Parts.

Comments about Wearever Unloaded Caliper - Import:

Calipers were two different caliper brands, different colors, different packaging, missing hardware such as anti rattle springs on one caliper. I have a commercial account with Advance Auto Parts, but still had to pay sales tax. Price to consumers is lower than my wholesale tax exempt price. It a no wonder Advance Auto Parts is not a preferred vendor fir professional repair shops.

I purchased a left and a right caliper 11/2015, the left started leaking in 03/2016 and I had to replace it. The replacement started leaking 05/2016. I'm not using the same product to replace it with again.

Comments about Wearever Unloaded Caliper - Import:

I would stay away from this manufacturer. I replaced both calipers and within a week they were covered with service rust. The other problem during installation was that the brake line inlet on the calipers were not at the same angle as the calipers that I were replacing. A few bends of the brake lines were needed to attach to the caliper.
