Installed Nov.7 and had to take apart following January 30 (less than 3 months) because the steel bushing was frozen up in the rubber bushing and causing a 'crunching' noise. The pins and bushings appear to be zinc coated, but show heavy corrosion from the road salt after only 2 months of Michigan winter. It was nice that the hardware came with the caliper...kudos to that. Even the end of the caliper piston is showing heavy rusting. Time will tell whether this will be long lasting or now. I only used a copper-containing lube the first time. I have put a silicone grease on it this time and hope that this will help stop the corrosion. I've never seen that much corrosion after only 3 months. As long as the piston doesn't rust to the seal this should still be a quality buy.

are these reman calipers "low drag" like factory or are they considered a normal type caliper?

                    A:

Hi Ira, that's a good question! Cardone remanufactured brake caliper is the economical choice when replacing your worn-out OEM caliper. An essential component of a disc braking system, caliper slow your wheel by creating friction between the pads and rotors. These refurbished units offer a high-quality, low-cost alternative to new caliper. Cardone meticulously rebuilds, greases, and thoroughly inspects the final product before shipment.

Where does the anti-rattle clip go when installing the pads? Is there an exploded view/diagram of the caliper with pads, pins and anti-rattle clip?

                  • CUSTOMER CARE

                    A:

Hi F.T, glad to assist you! The anti-rattle clip does go on the inner pad. Place a new anti-rattle clip on the lower end of the inner pad and be sure the tabs on the clip are positioned properly and the clip fully seated. For help with your project, I recommend purchasing a Haynes or Chilton repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts.
