Comments about Wearever Silver Semi-Metallic Brake Pads - Rear (4-Pad Set):

Normally I wouldn't be commenting on something as mundain as brake pads but I thought I should address "Do It Yourself" comments.
I was hesitant about purchasing these for my 1990 190e after reading the post that they don't fit. Advance has always been correct in the past so I thought I'd "give her a whirl". Maybe DIY wasn't doing something right.....such as collapsing the cylinders before installing the new pads.
When I started to install the new pads, I was having the same problem as DIY. Upon closer examination I discovered some rust scaling and build up on the inside of the calipers where the pads are to seat.... there is not a lot of "extra" room (as there shouldn't be)!
After scaping off the rust and scale, the pads fit nicely! I was installing new rotors as well, so the disc was as thick as it ever will be.

Comments about Wearever Silver Semi-Metallic Brake Pads - Rear (4-Pad Set):

These were too long, too wide and too thick for my Mercedes 190. I needed my car running again so I had to make these fit by grinding them down length, thick and width wise. Would not recommend for Mercedes 190.

  • Q:

On your limited lifetime warranty on brake pads, does this mean that if say 5 years go by and the pad has completely worn off and the metal backing of the brake pad is scraping the rotor, would this be covered on the warranty? It is not clear reading the warranty statement. Thanks.

Normal wear from driving is not covered by the warranty. Manufacturer defects is covered but not wear from normal use.
