Very easy to install your own break pads. Remove tire, loosen two caliper bolts, removing the bottom bolt. Rotate the caliper up, remove the old pad, clean and inspect the rotar. If it has heavy scoring or you noticed a serging prior to the change, the rotars will need to be turned. I believe AA will do that for you if you take it in. One the rotar has been turned or otherwise determined to be ok, you are ready to install the new pads. I use an old pad and a c-clamp to slowing push the caliper piston back. Put the new pads in, and lower the caliper back over the rotar. Make sure the caliper slides evenly on the bolts. If not, you will need to add break grease. If caliper slides ok, tighten bolts, and install tire. Do both sides of an axel. When first using the car, slowly pump the break to move the pad close to the rotar - the break will stiffen when pads are back in position. Always remember safety is first. Be sure to chock wheels and use jack stands. I can typically do both wheels of an axel in about an hour provided the rotars do not need turning.

Clips dont come with the pads, don't forget to buy them !

Pads should come with the consumables needed for the installation, it's a real bummer to have to head back up to the store for the clips.

      A:

      Silver brake pads:
Original equipment replacement brakes for dependable stopping power. The friction material type is organic.
      Gold brake pads:
Free of antimony, lead, and cadmium per current OE requirements. This has semi-metallic formulations for lower dust and cleaner wheels.
