Comments about Wearever Brake Shoes - Rear:

These have the correct locations of all the holes for the springs, the lining thickness is correct and everything looked correct until I was unable to get new drums over them. After closer inspection using precision measuring equipment, I found that the steel backing was actually about 2mm too long. the shape and profile was correct, but the extra 2mm made it impossible to install the drums. I ground the lower edge of the steel off each shoe where it would contact at the lower part. I could probably also have ground off a couple mm where it contacts the wheel cylinder as well, but I think the lower contact area made more sense. After doing so,the drums slid right on fine. This is clearly something you will want to know so you can avoid buying this part, or just go ahead and quickly grind them down a bit before you waste all the time of assembling only to find the drum wont fit on. Returning them would have been easy, but I needed to just get the car back on the road. They do appear to be good quality and stop the car very well. Advance has great service, and they had my order ready for me at the store for pickup, and since it was a bunch of brake parts, they even had it on a cart so I wouldn't have to make several trips to my vehicle carrying rotors and drums. That was very courteous and much appreciated.

Comments about Wearever Brake Shoes - Rear:

I had to sand down the shoes in order to install the old drums. Then i did a test drive for a couple of miles to brake them in. After that, I removed the old drums, sanded the shoes a little more and then installed the new drums. The install took twice as long because of the sanding now required due to the over-thickness of the shoes. other than the thickness, it is an exact fit.

Comments about Wearever Brake Shoes - Rear:

Well made but OE shoes are OD010 and Wearever are OD013. Makes installing on worn OE drums very!!! tight. Yes adj. and EBrake fully released. Very close fit with the Wearever replacement drum, requiring initial heat risk.

  • Q:

Are all four brake shoes universal? Or rather will one shoe work on either side, be it the passenger or driver, and on that side, does it matter if they are on the left or the right?
