Comments about Walker Converter Air Tube Kit - Universal for Replacement Converters:

Its a great idea!!! the down side is one end is about a 3/4 inch opening. The other is about an 1/2 inch. The pipe on the car is 3/4 on both ends on my car so I wound up splitting the hose trying to put it on.

  • Q:

Can this be used to repair a broken egr tube
Asked on 5/23/2017 by Stank from Dallas tx

    • A:

Probably, but check the diameter of the EGR tube and the inner diameter of
the hose in this kit. The Air Tube Kit is basically a flexible tube that
looks sort of like a tougher piece of garden hose, a length of metal pipe,
and some hose clamps. One end of the flex tube is larger than the other to
accommodate different diameters. If the break in your EGR line is short and
the diameters are close, you can splice in the flex hose and clamp it in
place. If the section you need to replace is larger, you can use the metal
section, cut the flex tube in pieces, and splice the metal section in place
with a flex and clamps on each end. Make sure you clamp tight, you don't
want exhaust leaks. This would not have worked on the EGR tube I had break
in a previous car because the broken part was too close to the end to
splice, but yours might be different.

  • Q:

when a converter starts to clogg up will it make rough take then after warm up it opens to let exhaust thru
Asked on 8/14/2016 by Robert from United States

    1 answer

Hi Robert, happy to help! The common signs of a clogged converter include reduced engine performance, rattling sounds, and the Check Engine Light turning on. If you see the symptoms listed above, including decreased fuel economy, stalling while driving or misfiring, take your car to a certified mechanic to have the catalytic converter checked.

Installation tips for a Walker Catalytic Converter Standard Universal Part 15042.
Also where does the Converter Air Tube go?

The air tube connects to the smog pump in the engine bay and then routes down and hooks to the tube on the catalytic converter. The smog pump is propelled by a belt and pulley system that is driven by the crank shaft.

Hi Mike, For help with your project, I recommend purchasing a Haynes or Chilton repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts.

If I have trash in my converter would this clean out my converters and make it run better

    1 answer

No. If you have trash in your converter, you need to replace your converter. You can not clean out a catalytic converter.
