I replaced the cheaper version of these brake pads with these top of the line pads and my squeal immediately went away. I then bought another set for our other vehicle.

Installed them 10 months ago on a 97 chevy k1500. Heard grinding on the front left this week so pulled off the wheel and caliper. The pads have cracks running through them with some even missing small pieces which is what was causing the grinding noise. They replaced them no problem but concerned it will happen again. This vehicle has only pulled a small trailer a couple of times so it is not from towing.

Just bought a used SUV that had new brake pads, but they were organic and they were squeaky. I replaced them with these ThermoQuiet ceramic brake pads and they are nice and quiet now... and no brake dust.

                • Q:

How do ceramic brake pads compare to semi-metalic as far as wear on the rotors? OEM on a 97 Suburban was semi-metalic so I am concerned the rotors will wear excessively with ceramic.

                    A:

I'm happy to help, J! Ceramic pads can be a great upgrade when looking for quieter and cleaner braking. The ceramic pads should generate less wear on your rotors than the semi-metallic pads. Ceramic pads use copper strands in place of the steel strands found in semi-metallic brake pads. The use of these Wagner ThermoQuiet Ceramic Brake Pads (Part No. QC369) should not cause any noticeable decrease in the rotor life of your 1997 Chevrolet Suburban.
