  • Q:

Will this work in 2012 Ford Edge? Thank you.
Asked on 3/21/2017 by Lee from Winter Haven, FL

      A:

Hi, Leer, glad to assist you! This Valvoline Power Steering Fluid (1 Gallon) (Part No. 799222) meets GM part number 1050017 (Spec. 9985010), Chrysler Spec. 5931E, and Ford Spec. M2C128 C & D. Use the fluid recommended in the owner's manual. Some power steering units are designed to use transmission fluid, while others are designed to use power steering fluid. Using the wrong fluid can cause performance deficiencies such as excessive foaming or improper lubrication. Never use power steering fluid in transmissions or as engine oil. • Q:

I noticed that advance has answered that this is compatible with Chrysler 5931. I bought this, it lists 5391 on container, but not 5931. I believe I need 5931 (04883077) for a 02 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited, 4.7 HO. It had red fluid in the reservoir and I needed to flush and change it to the correct fluid that is suppose to be amber. This is clear. Please check if this is correct fluid for me.

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

I'm happy to help, Pamm! Both Valvoline products, Maxlife Power Steering Fluid and Valvoline Power Steering Fluid will work fine in the 5931 application. Also we can suggest Maxlife ATF or Chrysler ATF+4 to meet that specification. The color does not matter. It is the base chemistry and additives that will alter color in fluids.

Hi Dollar40, I'm glad to assist you! This Valvoline power steering fluid is not applicable to this type of system. For your 2008 Scion TC application, Valvoline recommends their Valvoline Dex/Merc or MaxLife ATF products in the power steering system.

      A:

Hi Injun, thank you for contacting us! This will not meet PSF-IV specification. Valvoline currently does not offer a replacement product for Hyundai/Kia PSF-IV. I would recommend that you check with the nearest Advance store and one of our parts pros will be glad to assist you with an alternate availability.

Will this work with 2008 Subaru Forester?
    Asked on 8/19/2014 by chris6

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

I'd be happy to help you with that! My fluid catalog shows your vehicle to take Dexron VI ATF [automatic transmission fluid] or equivalent. This fluid is not correct for that application. I recommend double checking your owner's manual or with the dealership to confirm the fluid specifications.
