I have been running this fluid in my 1987 Mazda RX7 for track days and driving schools for the last few years. It is much cheaper than some of the other high performance options and has a high dry boiling point. I have never experienced fluid boil when used in conjunction with a race brake pad.

Many other high performance fluids come in a metal container which does help with shelf life. This Valvoline fluid comes in a plastic container. Once I crack the top on this fluid, I use only the first pour in my race car and will use subsequent pours in my street cars where the fluid performance is not as cruicial and temperatures are not as extreme.

  • Q:

Can I use this for a 2001 chevy suburban?
Asked on 3/4/2017 by La_Chamu from Houston, TX

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Hi La_Chamu, glad to assist you! This Valvoline DOT 3 and 4 Synthetic Brake Fluid (32 oz.) (Part No. 601458) is for all ABS, drum or disc brake systems requiring DOT 3 or DOT 4 fluid. Valvoline DOT 3 & 4 brake fluid has a high dry boiling point which reduces the risk of fluid evaporation and possible brake failure. It is a low-moisture formula which provides excellent vapor lock protection for maximum braking performance. Surpasses specifications SAE J1703, FMVSS no. 116 and DOT 4 motor vehicle brake fluid.

  • Q:

Hello! I just checked my owner's manual, it says that my car uses only "SAE J1703 or FMVSS No.116 DOT 3" brake fluid.

I noticed that this product's description says "Surpasses specifications SAE J1703 and FMVSS No. 116".

In this case, can I use this product to top off (i.e. to mix with the old fluid) the reservoir?

  • Q:

Hello. I have a 2010 eTon Beamer III 50cc Scooter. The manual says to use Dot-3 SAEJ1703 brake fluid. When I do a google search this product came up but I notice that this product says DOT 3 but also DOT 4 and Synthetic. I am not sure if it is compatible with my scooter because of the DOT 4 and Synthetic descriptions. I appreciate any help with this. Thanks for your time as well. Amanda

      A:

Hi Miraclemandi, I'm glad to assist you! The Valvoline Synthetic DOT 3 & 4 Brake Fluid is designed to work with either type of system. The DOT 4 Brake Fluids handle higher temperatures than DOT 3 Fluids do. This unique design allows this product to perform well in either type of braking system.
