  • Q:

Would this be a suitable replacement for a motorcycle that has the "boot" going from the back of the carb to the intake manifold?

Yes it would be ok to use

    • A:

Absolutely not! First, it's way too big for a motorcycle
carburetor...that should be the first indicator. Second, motorcycle
boots are generally flanged and fastened to the cylinder rather than a
clamp type like this. Check your motorcycle manufacturer's parts
      listing for proper part.

If it doesn't get super hot then ya. It's a little flimsy but should do
since I doubt it will be withstanding any weight on it. Let me know how it
works. I used mine for a cold air intake coupler under the hood on a 2001
      ford ranger 4.0

Hi Criss, glad to assist you! This Spectre Intake Coupler - Part No. 8772 is universal and is not application specific. You would have to match one by size to what is on the vehicle that can be fabricated into its place. This intake coupler connects two 3"-inch outside diameter components or air intake tubes together. This intake coupler is 2-1/4"-inch in length and made from red PVC and comes complete with 2 stainless steel worm gear hose clamps. It is not suitable to be installed on pressurized components such as turbocharger or supercharger outlets.

  • Q:

Why is this not recommended for use on a Turbo charged/ super charged engine?
I need a piece like this for my air take piping, but I have a turbo charged car.

      A:

Hello Andy, that is a good question that you mentioned there! Typically you will find a multi-layered coupler for such application; this is due to the increase in negative pressure that you will find in your supercharged/turbocharged intake system. A silicone coupler/reducer such as a Spectre 9321 would be more suited for your application. I advise you to check with your local Advance Auto Parts store for this part since it is not available through our website at this time.
