Great charger, got here just in time, left a light on in my car the night before and had a dead battery. Took it right out of the package and used the start mode option. Car started right up, didnt have to wait for it to charge like the old style chargers. Great price, more than satisfied. Thanks

Alright, should gone with automatic unit

Lacked current to start my car (RE Engine), but seems fine for other applications.

Comments about Schumacher 6<>2/40/200A 6V/12V Automatic Battery Charger:

I think I will get years of good service from this unit. I was looking for a combination of features that usually comes on machines that cost several times the price of this charger. Like everything it was a bit of a compromise...I wanted the versatility of 6 and 12 volts(so far so good), I wanted 2amp, 10amp, 40amp, and at least 150amp (for starting vehicle with seriously discharged battery). This unit has 3 out of 4 (it offers 6amp as opposed to the 10amp setting I was looking for). All In all, not too far from my original specs, so I decided to give it a try. So far I have used it once and it is very easy to use and does well.

            • Q:

I asked a previous question, can the battery voltage be read or indicated on the display. The answer was given as, yes, read the instruction manual.
I have throughly read the instruction manual provide with the charger and the pdf file provided. There is no where in the instruction manual that states that the battery voltage can be seen on the display. I have also tried the display mode button, still no battery voltage read out. I have tried all settings, no battery voltage read out on my unit.
Please provide the page number and paragraph line number in the instruction manual that says how to view the battery voltage on the display.

                A:

Hi Clayp1ng, glad to assist you! The Digital Display gives a digital indication of amperage or time. The display will show the amperage when the charger is charging a battery. During timer operation, the display shows the remaining time. When the charger goes into charging mode, the display will automatically change to ON (to show charging has started). If you manually stop the charging process (by pressing the Rate Selection button) before the battery is fully charged, the display will show OFF. NOTE: During charging, the display will go into sleep mode and will not show the amperage of the battery. To turn the display back on, press the Display button. DISPLAY BUTTON: Use this button to set the function of the digital display to one of the following: AMPS – The display shows the selected charge rate, in amps. TIME – The display shows the remaining time during Boost mode. It is on the page number 5 under the "Control Panel" chapter. For more information, I would suggest that you contact the Schumacher Electric directly at 1-800-621-5485 and they would be in a better position to help you.

You'll need the Schumacher Automatic/Manual Traditional Deep Cycle Charger - Part No. SE-70MA for the Deep Cycle Battery, but we do not offer them online.
