Good Filter

The PureOne filters are well built and filter effectively.
Sometimes the outer coating makes it onto the o-ring and the area inside it. Look for this overspray before you buy.

These Pure One oil filters are grossly overhyped. They are not a bad oil filter, and for the money have some value. I think if you get them free with the oil deal then it's a bit more attractive. FYI, I have heard tons of complaints about Fram oil filters failing, so that is the only filter I would avoid. My German and Austrian oil filters weigh 100% heavier, and appear much more durable. They are also nexpensive. I usually use Mann or Mahle oil filters, with full synthetic Mobil One oil. I think Wix filters are decent and would use them if I couldn't get the better OEM European filters.

      A:

Hi Chris, sorry for the confusion. You can very well use this Purolator PureONE Oil Filter (Part No. PL14670) with synthetic oil. You can use any oil filter that is specified for your vehicle with any oil that meets the viscosity, API Service Level and any additional specifications for your vehicle.

  • Q:

Is this compatible to use with full synthetic oil and extended use intervals of 10k for my 05 dodge ram hemi. A previous response from advance auto parts representive stated was not to be used with synthetic oil. However in advance auto parts synthetic oil + filter deals this filter and even cheaper drive works filter is listed with synthetic oil.. If this filter or the cheap drive works filter is not capable of filtering synthetic oil why is advance auto parts selling them together in oil +filter deals

      A:

I'm happy to help, Edwards! You can certainly use this Purolator PureONE Oil Filter (Part No. PL14670) with synthetic oil. You can use any oil filter that is specified for your vehicle with any oil that meets the viscosity, API Service Level and any additional specifications for your vehicle.

Purolator recommends the replacement of your oil filter every 3,000 miles or 3 months depending on the drive conditions or unless otherwise specified by the vehicle's manufacturer. Purolator offers the Purolator Synthetic Oil Filter (Part No. PSL14670), which offers synthetic, wire-backed media, 99% efficiency*, 27 gram capacity and 10,000 mile protection.

Filters that are designed for use with synthetic oils will offer you the full benefit of those oils with additional capacity that allows for the longer oil change interval. The Mobil1 Extended Performance Oil Filter (Part No. M1-204), Bosch Distance Plus High Performance Oil Filter (Part No. D3402), Fram Ultra Oil Filter (Part No. XG16), Royal Purple Extended Life Oil Filter (Part No. 20-253) and K&N Pro Series Oil Filter (Part No. PS-2004) are interchangable with this PureONE filter and offer extended drain interval capability with some up to 15,000 miles.
