I normally use Fram oil filters, but I recently saw a web site where they cut the filters open and show pictures of the internals. Fram seemed to use cardboard components, where Purolator uses metal. I decided to try these filters out, will post a review after I have used them for a few thousand miles.

I have used Purolator since I have been able to drive. The Classic is what my father recommended to me when I performed my first oil change. People, myself included, run the filters at their normal OCI and cut them open for inspection. Recently, there have been issues with them because of the filter media tearing. I recommend Googling "Purolator Torn Media" There are issues with both the Classic and the PureOne as well as the Bosch Premium.. which is basically a rebadged PureOne filter. The issues have been brought to Purolator's attention, but they deny liability. I won't be using their filters anymore. Very disappointed in this American company. Photo found on web. Not mine:

Comments about Purolator Classic Oil Filter:

These filters have a serious QC problem. After cutting one open after 4000 mile use, I discovered I was driving around with a filter which had a torn media. The pleats are wavy and uneven. I would buy another brand.
