Permatex Automatic Transmission RTV Gasket Maker is a specialty gasket maker that offers improved transmission oil resistance and good adhesion while retaining flexibility. It is sensor safe, non-corrosive and can be used as a gasket maker or dressing. This non-flammable, non-toxic and low order formulation resists again, weathering and thermal cycling without hardening, shrinking or cracking.

I would not buy this again
Always impressed with Permatex products from super glue, caulk, and auto related materials. This Gasket Maker broke open when I started to push it out and I was unable to create a gasket for my transmission pan. I had to go and buy another Permatex product that was in a tube and uses a caulk gun. I believe this would be a great product if it came in a tube that goes in a caulk gun.

Used on a turbo 350 transmission to seal gasket on pan and speedometer gear plug. It works good so far just don't over tighten the pan bolts.

While replacing the wiring harness in a 460le (dexron 6 fluid) I tore the accumulator gasket. Would this be suitable for use as a gasket that remains submerged in trans fluid and under pressure? I am trying to avoid removing the valve body.

Yes, Robert! This Permatex Automatic Transmission RTV Sealant - Part # 81180 is recommended for automatic transmission pans, case halves, and side covers. Apply a continuous and even bead of silicone to one surface; surround all bolt holes. Assemble parts immediately. Finger tighten bolts until material begins to squeeze out around flange. Allow to cure for one hour then retighten 1/4 to 1/2 turn.
