This product is recommended over the tube that you have to keep curling up. It produces a nice even bead. I applied to a clean but not grease-free transmission pan and it held up extremely well!

Clean surface of any dirt and oil residue with brake cleaner and a rag. Apply a decent bead to area needed to be sealed. Put part together hand tight only. Wait 1 hour then torque bolts to recommended torque spec. Good to go
