When a rock left a hole and a star type cracking pattern in my wifes windshield I told her to put some clear nail polish on it to stop it from spreading (caused by the air in the hole and crack). I then decided to try Permatex even though the one review here was negative. I had looked on youTube and found an excellent easy to follow instructional video. The procedure was simple. I am amazed at the outcome. Although you can still detect a slight blemish directly where the rock hit, ALL the cracks and damage is gone. The repair is just about undetectable, there is no discoloration or anything. Like I said, you can still see a very small blemish where the worst point was but it is smooth and clear. Even though I removed the nail polish, I think had we not used it in the first place that the repair would have been 100% undetectable. This stuff works.

Not a good experience. The adhesive seemed to stick really well when I pressed it onto the windshield.. but later in the repair process, once I used the syringe to push air into the base, I immediately felt the air escape between the windshield and the base.
I managed to use some weights to keep everything in place. After waiting and removing everything, I let it cure with the UV screen and it looked decent. The next day, the main piece of resin filling the pit was missing.

I will pay a professional to repair this bullseye and will probably not use DIY bullseye repair kits again.

Repaired a couple of months ago, no cracking since. Hard to even find the chip anymore - follow the instructions and you'll get most of the air out.

Comments about Permatex Bullseye Windshield Repair Kit:

Will leave most small damage undetectable. Nothing is perfect, some repairs might leave traces of star damage (or parts of half moons). I have used this system from permatex for many years and you will not be disappointed as repair will get rid of "seeing double" dings in your driving vision and restore optical clarity of impact damage. Repair will also prevent cracks from running. Watch the YouTube video before you do a repair. P.S. Some instructions omit the very last step: take a sharp razor blade and remove cured adhesive "square" that remains, just gently shave it off of the windshield surface so surface is flush with the glass for a professional looking repair!!

Worked Great For Me - Follow Directions Carefully

    By

Comments about Permatex Bullseye Windshield Repair Kit:

This repair kit is $2 cheaper than the Permatex Windshield Repair Kit Part No. 09103. It does not include the push pins for removing loose glass particles, alcohol wipe or a safety razor blade, otherwise it the appears to be the same.

I repaired a dime size bulls eye which is now nearly invisible. I did the repair within 24 hours of getting the chip and made sure no water entered the chip. Follow the directions in their youtube video. I brought my ipad out to the car and paused the video at each step.

Observe the wait times for the suction step and the pressure injection of the resin. You could see the bubbles escape from the chip during the suction step - wait until they stop.

To cure the resin, I used a UV light my son had (think disco) and it cured in 30 minutes. Repair looks great and no spread of chip.

GOOD, but better instructions would help

Comments about Permatex Bullseye Windshield Repair Kit:

Better instructions at step 5 and 9 could have prevented 2 mistakes I made. Step 5 says "save empty
container." It should say "almost empty," because you need a drop for step 10. I knew that, but the container is opaque, and I accidentally emptied it. A clear container would be nice. Or, at step 9, do NOT
"discard" the injector, because you can probably get the needed drop from it. Also at step 9, I gripped the pedestal neck [instead of prying under the TAB OF THE ADHESIVE SEAL]--the pedestal came off, but the adhesive seal remained on the windshield and had to be scraped off. Fortunately, the remedy for "skin contact" with the resin is just soap and water. Finally, the recommendation of ideal temperature from 50 to 75 degrees F. should be in the instructions, not just on Permatex's YouTube video.

Comments about Permatex Bullseye Windshield Repair Kit:

I can't tell how this will hold up over the years, but two weeks later the crack hasn't grown. I can still clearly see where the stone hit the windsield, but if it doesn't get any bigger, that's all I want. I would suggest letting the product set up longer than the directions stay, just to be sure. There's no harm in it. The youtube video was great and I used my ipod rather than the directions included during application.

          Cons

          • The instructions are poor.
          • The resin doesn't cure well, even in bright sun.

In theory this should work to fix a chip in a windshield. However, after 1/2 hour in the Florida sun, near high noon, the resin still had not hardened completely.
