1/4Andquot; X 25' Nickel/Copper/Iron Alloy Tubing - Use to fabricate 1/4Andquot; Domestic And adapter brake lines. When combined with tube nuts And flaring tool, coils are an economical solution for shops that want to build their own lines, custom lengths or non-stAndard applications. NiCopp is a nickel-copper alloy brake tubing that meets SAE StAndard J1047 And ISO 4038; meeting all international And U.S. requirements for brake tubing. This alloy is approximately 9.2% nickel, 1.4% iron, 0.8% manganese, And 88.6% copper. Under the UNS system, this alloy is designated as UNS C70600. NiCopp therefore has the strength And structural integrity of steel lines but with the added benefit of being much more corrosion resistant. NiCopp is also easier to bend And form than steel tubing. Nickel-copper, commonly referred to as '90-10 copper', has been used on several European vehicle brake systems since the 1970's, including: Volvo, Audi, Porsche, And Aston Martin. NiCopp has been used on hydraulic/fluid transfer systems on vehicles where steel lines And tubing are commonly used. This includes brake, fuel And transmission systems. Easy to bend and flare, ideal for brake and fuel line, does not corrode but will darken in color. If restoring a vehicle, using NiCopp lines is money better spent than buying a stainless exhaust. Advance has the best price by far for it too.

weigh the pros of ease of use/time saver vs expense. Time saved may pay for labor to install the lines. If time isn't a factor and you have the tools, steel will be cheaper. I installed on a plow truck for the corrosive environment it works in....

When I tried to replace five 1/4" lines on a 2000 Silverado 4WD that all converge into the BPMV (anti-lock), I found that Nicopp does not bend in a tight radius that is required in that area, even though I was using special tight-radius bending pliers designed for that purpose. Since the tube is manufactured "straight", and then coiled for shipping, by straightening out the coil to form a replacement pipe, the material has already been "bent" twice, which work-hardens the material, making it hard to bend the 3rd time in a tight-radius for installation. For a curvature of > 2", it is no problem, however. By the way, the green-coated standard tube Advance sells, the anti-rust coating scratches right off during installation, however I can bend that stuff almost as tight as my wedding ring.

This NiCopp flares and bends very easily. Perhaps it bends a little too easily as the finsih results can look amatureish if you are not very careful. I wonder if the European OEM munufactures that use it don't use coiled armor to protect it since it seems that it could get damaged easily. I used a Eastwood flaring tool and I have never gotten such good 45% double flare in over 45 years trying. I was very pleased with the ease of flaring. Bending is easy but you have to be careful as it will kink.

It can kink if you aren't careful. Watch for work hardening caused by having to bend it back and forth to get around obstructions when pulling it into position. When installing a one piece line(as opposed to using couplings with multiple short lengths) it's best to have a hand at every obstrucion to the pull can be continous and you aren't having pull two inches, get up, go back to the next obstruction. Repeating for each obstruction until you're at the free end. All for just two inches or so of movement. Again, it has to be bent around every obstruction. If your brake line has rusted, Your bleeder screws most likely are also. Use plenty of heat to free them. Once the rust is off the bleeder, try putting the next smaller six point socket on it (Metric if the orginal was SAE, SAE if the orginal was metric)to prevent rounding the hex. Use new bleeder screws and in additon to the caps that keep dirt out of the hole, use a tight fitting hose over the hex of the screw with a dab of high melting point grease to prevent rust from forming.
