Well let me start off by saying that these plugs are just awesome. They improved my acceleration, gas-milage, and rough idle. I have a 2012 Chrysler 200 2.4l and it was giving me problems at 37000 miles (starting to get sluggish). So my first thought was to upgrade plugs. I was not dissapointed with these plugs. They instantly gave my vehicle the second wind it needed, and are paying for themselves on saving me gas. They have a non-corrosive coating on the threads witch makes them very durable. Do not think twice.

I have had these plugs in for only two days and my gas mileage has dropped from 19.2 miles to 16.2 miles. This is a car that I use for work that is stop and go. Now on the upside its looking like highway mileage has gone up a little but only time will tell.

      • Q:

The listing shows a gap of .032" but NGK website shows .044" for this plug. The .044" spec would be correct for a '99 Mazda 626 2.0L 4cyl but my '99 Mazda 626 2.5L 6cyl requires a .031" gap per owners manual and Mazda Factory Service Manual. Can someone verify the actual gap on these? NGK says they should not be adjusted more than .008" which would only get me to .036".

          A:

Yes, RachelAnne, NGK Iridium Ix Spark Plug (ZFR5FIX-11) (Part No. 2477) is pre-gaped as .044" (1.1mm). All the spark plugs are pre-gapped from the factory, the fact remains that the gap must be adjusted for the vehicle that the spark plug is intended for. Those with modified engines must remember that a modified engine with higher compression or forced induction will typically require a smaller gap settings.

        hi,

if my car manual calls for 1.1 mm gap do i have to gap the spark plugs to 1.1 mm or keep it 0.6 mm

        thank you

        1 answer

        • CUSTOMER CARE

          A:

Hi AMAQ03, good question! You may need to re-gap the spark plug. A spark plug part number might fit hundreds of different engines from many different manufacturers. Although the NGK factory will set the gap to a pre-selected setting, this may not be the right gap for your particular engine. The incorrect plug gap for your engine can contribute to a high rate of misfires, loss of power, plug fouling, poor fuel economy, and accelerated plug wear. It is always best to check the gap against the manufacturer's specifications.

Hello with reference to your question, NGK Iridium Ix Spark Plug (ZFR5FIX-11) - Part No. 2477, it gives a life expectancy of 40-50k miles. But they have to temper their projections as driving conditions and motor modifications differ. You can expect 60,000 to 80,000 miles and about 1-2% of total engine output, on an unaltered motor.
