After buying this car used with 176,000 miles, I replaced all the usual "tune-up" suspects but just now got around to the wires because they're a little pricey at approx $50 for 4 wires, but they are what all the Subaru Forum readers/contributors advocate as best overall OEM type replacements. Installed NGK's FX50 wire set, replacing older unknown-condition and unbranded but "double silicone" wires. After taking out the front two intake pieces (about 60 seconds), installation took about another 60 seconds for the 2 passenger side wires in my '01 Subaru Outback H4. Driver side required the temp relocation of the window washer pump (syphoned out washer fluid, then disconnected both electrical connectors, and only one of the feed tubes... you do not have to remove the battery, but driver's side wire replacement would be easier if it were). This allowed sufficient access to the aft plug wire. Feeding the new wires in was not that difficult. Total time spent was about 30 minutes on this job. Test drive (30 min, city and highway speeds) and I immediately noticed an improvement in idling and acceleration. It is too soon to determine fuel economy improvements.

The fit and finish of these wires is first rate.
I always had a fondness for NKG spark plugs and their ignition wires did not disappoint. Wires is one area where its worth buying quality.

A simple tune up using these wires and new NGK spark plugs was all it took to take the sputtering problem away from my Outback. Easy to install, look great and work well. The only negative is the #4 plug wire is a tad short but it does fit without stretching the wire.

Simply put: The best for my Subie! Combined with replacement of stock plugs with NGK Platinum and the difference is substantial. Its been about 10K miles since I did the job and so far so good. Replacement was not difficult. Had to move a few things out of the way to get better access to plugs, but overall nothing crazy at all. The best part is the price with Advance online disounts!

Comments about NGK Ignition Wire Set:

Of coarse they work! Just like a light bulb: it's either light or dark. I can't judge durability or performance for another 50,000 miles or so. One of my old wires had corroded through, so at least from that standpoint these are a great improvement. I can echo everyone else's comment about them fitting perfectly. They do. Color's nice, too. Appear to be quality product.
This may be an example of "getting what you pay for".

Great set of plug wires, perfect fit easy to install. I got these for my 2002 Subaru Outback. I was having hesitation problems when starting from a dead stop. These plug wires took care of that problem. The wires are great quality, numbered for easy install and work great.
