Okay, after reading the reviews of the Mr. Gasket 9710 Fuel Regulator I was more than a little apprehensive about purchasing this unit. I am using this regulator with the Mr. Gasket 42-S low pressure fuel pump, which pushes 2-3.5 psi @ 48gph. I wanted to reduce the pressure down to as low as possible for use with a 1750 watt portable generator that has a very small Mikuni carburetor, just to be sure that I didn't flood the thing out. Anyway, I went ahead and took a chance and picked up this regulator at my local Advance Auto....and I'm glad I did. It worked perfectly for my application! My portable generator now draws fuel from my RV's fuel tank with no over pressurizing or flooding of the 3.5hp Briggs and Stratton engine. There is no longer any need to refuel the puny 1 gallon tank on my generator every few hours. Now, I have only bench tested the regulator. I have only run the generator for a brief time to make sure that everything checked out, so I cannot attest to how this thing will hold up. All I can tell you right now is that this regulator did what is supposed to with no leaks or problems.

One note: to confirm another reviewer's comment, as soon as you pull the unit out of the package you MUST check the screws that hold the housing together. A couple of mine were loose, but about 30 seconds with a #2 phillips took care of that problem.

These "dial" type of regulators used to be of better quality back many years ago when they were not made in China, but now days every thing is it seems. Use available discounts when possible, in my opinion not worth [$], only bought this using an Advance Auto Parts promo discount, and needed it to regulate the pressure of an electric fuel pump added to the car before I purchased it. Mine does not leak, I sealed the fittings with a little Permatex #2. Looks good in engine compartment, but on close inspection the finish is not quality. Again, our Chinese imported parts. I would only recommend to a friend if they really needed it to get a vehicle on the road.

Comments about Mr. Gasket Fuel Regulator:

My fuel pump started putting out excessive pressure and was flooding the engine on my car. I looked for a Mr. Gasket regulator for 1-4 PSI (apparently not a popular item because most cars are injected, with high pressure pumps). The confirmation showed availability either shipped or picked up at an Advance outlet. I selected their outlet and when I went to the store it was waiting for me. I installed it and it worked perfectly. While at the store I noticed a HUGE inventory. I'll be buying all parts from that store in the future.

Comments about Mr. Gasket Fuel Regulator:

I added this when the Mr. Gasket fuel pump created to much pressure for my Edelbrock carburetor. Works great. One if the few things I bought from this store that actually worked the first time. I went through 4 starter that where all defective before having to buy a starter at another part store. To many cheap made Chines parts are sold by Advance Auto.

Don't usually like this stile of reg but it works and it's easy to adjust pressure. I had a hard time getting it to seal at first. I recommend seal all or yellow tape on the threads

Ok, there are alot of reviews saying this product leaks, even when fuel pressure is low, and id agree if you just throw this on after buying it, it would, but i noticed when ir eceived this product that 5 of the screws on the bottom holding the housings together were loose, if you spend the couple minutes to tighten these screws pretty tight before install you should have no issues, been running it for almost a month, fuel psi is standing still at 4.5 psi when it used to be about 8-9. Id say if you tighten those screws before install all should be good.

Comments about Mr. Gasket Fuel Regulator:

The regulator does not do a good job of regulating the fuel pressure. I had another one on my car and it worked fine till it started leaking. I use a fuel pressure gauge and it's not close to what the gauge reads. It looks nice and will do for a replacement, the price for it in my opinion is too high for what the product is supposed to do. And do know what I'm talking about too, Retired drag racer.

pretty much all gas is an ethanol blend.  mostly 10% and
it works fine with it.   can't say on the E85 fuel.

Hi Wayno, glad to assist you! This Mr. Gasket Fuel Regulator - Part No. 9710 is an adjustable fuel pressure regulator designed for use on fuel systems equipped with a carburetor using 1/4", 5/16" or 3/8" I.D. fuel lines, not exceeding 8 PSI. Tighten brass fittings so threads are fully engaged into fuel regulator. Do not over-tighten fittings or fuel leaks may result. For a positive seal, use Mr. Gasket - Part No. 2842G thread sealing tape. After installing fuel regulator, start engine and check fuel line and connections. All connections should be leak proof to prevent a potential fire hazard or explosion. Fuel pressure adjustment is from 1 to 6 lbs.

I'm happy to help, Gordon! Holley has a few regulators from their HP Billet Carbureted By-Pass Fuel Pressure Regulator line, such as Part No. 12-841, 12-845 or 12-842. These regulators are not available on AdvanceAutoParts.com. I suggest speaking with your local Advance Auto Parts or CARQUEST store for availability.

If you prefer another brand of regulator, looking for a by-pass style regulator for carburetor applications will help you narrow down your selections.
