Both are made by the same manufacturer in the same factory so wether you go with these or autolites there the same. Motocraft is made to ford factory specs but so would the autolites or they wouldn't work. I will always stick with NGK R iridium plugs only reason I went with these is it's not my truck and customer wanted oem.

Comments about Motorcraft Original Equipment Platinum Iridium Spark Plug:

Coupled with new coil packs, restored power and smooth idle. Pull coils and spray spark plug hole w/ WD40 a day or to before removing plugs, I filled cavity around plugs let WD40 penetrate threads around plugs and had no problems. Use dielectric grease on coil, and anti-seize on spark plug threads.

What is the gap size on these plug for my 2000 f150 5.4
Asked on 1/10/2016 by SP VTEC 1 from Easton, PA

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Hi SP VTEC 1, happy to help you! The Motorcraft Original Equipment Platinum Iridium Spark Plug (Part No. SP-479) requires .054 inch gap. Even though the spark plugs are pre-gapped from the factory, the fact remains that the gap must be adjusted for the vehicle that the spark plug is intended for. Those with modified engines must remember that a modified engine with higher compression or forced induction will typically require a smaller gap settings.

  • Q:

How do I change the spark plugs in my 03 expidition?
Asked on 6/16/2010 by Chris Burrow from Little Rock, AR

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Changing spark plugs is actually quite easy. Once you locate the spark plugs on your engine, just use a ratchet, a long enough extension, and the spark plug socket to fit your spark plugs. Simply unscrew the old ones and then insert the new ones. Screw them down by hand until the bottom out and then give them a turn or two with your ratchet and you should be good. For better assistance, I recommend getting a repair manual for your vehicle. It will be able to give you more detailed steps for your specific vehicle.
