Stick with OEM

By

from Minnesota

Comments about Motorcraft 5W-30 Synthetic Blend Motor Oil (1 Quart):

Stick with OEM, especially if you drive a vehicle that is under warranty. You can't go wrong. This may be totally coincidental, but on one vehicle I had years ago, a 1999 Ford Expedition I decided to try Mobil One. I went to my dealership and supplied my own oil, Mobil One. My ride had only 30,000 miles on it. Immediately afterwards, and down the road about 30 miles I could smell hot oil. Thinking maybe some had dripped on the manifold during the change, I ignored it. However it persisted. I took it back in and they discovered that the head gaskets had started leaking. THIS IS A TRUE STORY. The ending to this is complicated. I decided to trade it off on a smaller vehicle since gas prices were soaring and I wanted to downsize. My next vehicle was a new 2003 Honda Pilot. I had good luck with that vehicle but the closest dealership was 65 miles away where I bought it. I decided to have a local mechanic change my oil and I switched to Valvoline instead of OEM Honda oil. At around 58,000 miles the engine developed a very loud ticking sound. After visits to the dealership there, and one other Honda dealer, no one could figure out what the problem was and basically I was told to just drive it and ignore it. Now here are two cases where I moved away from OEM oil and that's what happened to me. I eventually traded THAT vehicle off and went back to a Ford Expedition along with ALWAYS using OEM oil. To date, NO FURTHER PROBLEMS!

                Found this on google...
                Part-synthetic—also
                called synthetic blend or semi-synthetic—oils
are blends of mineral oil (conventional) and synthetic base
oil. Part-synthetic motor oil is designed to have some of
the benefits of a full synthetic but at a lower cost.
                Hope that helps,
