Monroe® Reflex® monotube shocks are specifically engineered to provide better handling, control and performance for light trucks and SUV's. These shocks feature a high-pressure gas charge that separates the unit internal oil and nitrogen to provide additional spring rate, helping to maximize damping efficiency and control. To further enhance ride control characteristics, Monroe® Reflex® monotube shocks include a hydraulic lockout to cushion the impact as the vehicle suspension is fully extended.

Product Features:
  • Hydraulic Lockout: Patented unique hydraulic lock-out isolates impact at the limits of suspension travel
  • All Weather Fluid: Contains special modifiers to reduce friction and ensure smooth rod reaction.
  • High Pressure Nitrogen Gas Charged: High-pressure charge (240-260 PSI) provides a quicker response for excellent vehicle control
  • Shock Housing: High strength to resist damage and provide longer service life.
  • Nitrocarburized Rod: For long service life
  • Fluon Banded Piston: The fluon band provides consistent sealing between the piston and pressure tube which delivers better control and increased durability.
  • Free Floating Dividing Piston: Separates shock fluid from high-pressure gas charge.

While these are cost prohibitive to the regular joe, it is my opinion you get what you pay for, these are recommended for the Z71 4x4 package and well worth the cash. I used the Advance online discount and have sent in the monroe coupon for even more cash back, we will see how that works out. The front shocks were in stock at my local store the rear shocks were shipped from monroe in three days. I am quite happy.

Finally got around to replacing my shock absorbers on the 2000 GMS Z71. Instalation was staight forward and easily accomplished in a few hours. As far as hardware; i was a little diappointed with the replacement grommets that came with this...didnt seem as high quality as the OEM stuff. While i like the performance of the new absorbers, i think next time it would be worth going by the dealer and purchaing the attaching harware [bolts, grommets, spacers] to go along with the installation.

Bought these shocks online and picked them up the next day. Waiting for the snow to melt before I install them. Not my first time buying from Advance Auto Parts online and certainly not my last...

Comments about Monroe Reflex Monotube Shock Absorber:

Replaced the OEM shocks on a 1999 Sierra, disregarding the fact that the stock shocks hat about 120k on them, these were almost 50% bigger; heavy duty and a lot better than the cheap shocks. You get what you pay for with shocks, buy cheap ones and they'll last a few months with a bad ride.

Comments about Monroe Reflex Monotube Shock Absorber:

Bought these to replace some squeaking KYB Monomax shocks that were a little too stiff for the truck. The ride is much better and I'm very pleased. As always getting the old ones off was much harder than putting the new ones on. I would recommend a breaker bar for that. I did jack the truck up slightly to make it easier. Ordered these online and got 20% off (they were already cheaper than elsewhere) and picked them up 30 minutes later in Cuyahoga Falls, Oh.

      • Q:

I put the Monroe Sensa Trak Load adjusting shock in the rear of my 2006 GMC sierra WT with the 4.3. Will these shocks be the best for the front?
Asked on 8/2/2014 by Pat from Rome, NY

        • CUSTOMER CARE

          A:

I'd be happy to help you with that! The Reflex shocks are the best for normal day use for trucks and SUVs. They are very responsive and will compliment the rear load adjusting ones if you are doing a lot of towing or hauling. The Reflex shocks are only available for trucks and SUVs because they are designed to compensate for the higher center of gravity.
