  • Q:

Does this shaft just snap into the oil pump, I aligned the hex, and Will I damage the retaining ring by forcing the shaft into the pump?
I disassembled the pump and I do not see anyway of installing the retaining ring after the shaft has been installed. So, do I just force the shaft and retaining ring into the pump ?

Remove oil pan bolts wtih a socket wrench. Insert the thin wide screwdriver between the oil pan and the motor to loosen and remove oil pan. Unscrew oil pump bolts with a socket wrench. Remove the oil pump from the motor and set aside. Insert the shaft with the small circular retainer into the motor. The circular retainer should be facing toward the distributor. Bolt the oil pump onto the motor using the oil pump bolts.
