Q:My door handle does not work. I cannot open the driver's door from the inside(it does work from the outside). There is no resistance when I pull the handle. I am having a difficult time removing the door panel. How do I remove the inside door panel?
A:Hi Zak, glad to assist you! Here is the instructions to remove the inside door panel. Open the door to make access to the panel simpler. Feel around the edges of the door panel to inspect for fasteners. Undo any screws with a Phillips-head screwdriver. The screws will be hidden. Look under armrests, by the door handles and around the corners of the doors. Pry up any electrical consoles and disconnect the wires that are attached to the back of them. This will include power windows, power door locks, power mirrors, and in some vehicles the power seat functions. Gently pull the bottom corner of the door panel away from the door. The door panel is held on by fasteners. The fasteners are located within five inches of one another. Pull the door panel off gently until the whole panel is free from the vehicle. Inspect the back of the panel for any wires connected to it. The courtesy light is connected to the back of the panel and can be disconnected by turning the socket counterclockwise and pulling away from the panel. Lift the panel up and away from the door. Place the panel face down on a flat surface. For help with your project, I recommend purchasing a Haynes or Chilton repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts.
