    What is the compressed gasket thickness of these gaskets? Roadmaster/Caprice LT1 gaskets have a different compressed thickness than Camaro/Firebird/Corvette LT1 head gaskets.

    Using the wrong gasket can drop your compression by up to .7pts which will create a large difference in performance.

    are these gaskets .050" compressed? Do they have the metal fire ring around the cylinder ? I'm looking for some .050" gaskets for a performance application. If these won't work well do you offer any performance gaskets in that thickness?

      These gaskets are .049" Compressed.

      If you have a Chevy Caprice, or Buick Roadmaster with the 5.7L LT1 engine these gaskets will drop your compression from 9.3:1 to 8.8:1 leading to poorer fuel economy, less power, and worse emissions.

      For a B-body car with the LT1 you want the Victor Reinz Gaskets 5898 which has a compressed thickness of .026" compared to the original B-body LT1 gaskets .029" Compressed thickness. This will maintain your static compression ratio.

      If you have an F-body LT1 with the aluminum heads the VC5898 gaskets will increase your compression ratio from 10.4:1 to 11.1:1. Not desirable unless you are doing a high performance camshaft swap or willing to account for a new PCM tune to reduce timing and detonation issues.
