Q:we recharged the freon....our clutch won't engage unless we manually "tap" it to engage....did we not put enough freon in or do we need a new clutch....instead of cycling on and off, once it stops, we have to re-engage it by "tapping" on it...
A:The air gap might be too big. Remove the nut on the compressor shaft. Rent a compressor clutch tool and attempt to move the outer clutch into the compressor to reduce the air gap - as long as it isn't dragging when hot you are fine. If the clutch will not move in, remove the clutch with the tool and remove the spacer washer. Then reinstall the clutch and set the air gap close. Install the nut and check the clutch function. Q:i have a 1995 chevy s-10and the compressor is constantly cycling. it blows room temp air. help please.
A:The AC clutch should be the problem. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified AC mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

A:No, special tools are not required. It can be done with the normal tools.
