  • Q:

where do you put the oil? The instructions for changing from r12 system to r34 say to change the compressor oil. I have a 1988 f150.reg. cab with factory air and a 5.0. I removed the compressor but see no drain plug or a place to add oil. The only openings are where the pressure hoses bolt on. No oil drained from them. The compressor still works, but I dont know what to do about the oil.

Hi Mr.D, glad to help you! For help with your project, I recommend purchasing a Haynes or Chilton repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts. The exact repair manual part number for your vehicle is 36058.

is this r12 refrigerant or just oil?

Hi Spoony, good question! This is an R12 mineral oil, not a refrigerant. Your air conditioning compressor moves refrigerant gas through your climate control system, it also carries oil to lubricate the compressor and help it function properly. Lubricate your system properly service it with this R12 mineral oil.
