Comments about Duplicolor Primer Surfacer, Gray, 128 oz. Gallon:

Great product for DIY garage use, half of the price of K36, K38, If you love doing auto body this is the product for you, Great high build, fantastic father edge, it sands beautifully , just don't stack it like the more expensive stuff, it will run, I choke the gun down to about 1/4 open then touch the air up a lil then trigger it on you will be surprised ! only minor problem I had with the product is separation in the cup, but thats only if you let it sit for hours, I will definitely use again

Good primer for the price, drip free. Seems to level fine with 50/50 acetone/lacquer thinner.

Works great but needs to dry a good 48 hours or more prior to
          sealer/top-coat.

I have used it with Dupli-color Paint Shop finish system which is a lacquer, base coat clear coat system. As well as with Omni urethane base coat clear coat systems. I have had excellent results with both so I would not see any reason why you would have any issues with a single stage.

      • Q:

I'm painting a Farmall tractor using their factory red paint. It is described as an acrylic modified alkyd enamel. Will Duplicolor Primer Surfacer BG920/BG910 be okay to use as my primer. Would I be better off using an iron oxide colored primer since the topcoat will be red or will this gray be okay?
Asked on 6/7/2017 by tractor guy from Washington, NC

        • A:

This will be fine.  The benefit of this product especially if you don't have perfect surfaces is it does fill some of the unevenness.
This will allow you to send your surface and then add another coat in sand and then add another coat and sand depending on how bad your surfaces are the flatter the painted surface the shinier it is.
Do not worry about the color because this product covers very very easily.
