Comments about Driveworks Wheel Bearing Hub Assembly:

I installed this drive hub the same as dozens before, after re assembling everything and going for a short test drive the unit failed after 2 miles and the roller bearings began to fall out of the cage. because the wheel was loose it also destroyed the caliper bolts. I limped it home and replaced the caliper bolts and re-installed the old bearing for the time being.

I have a Chevy S10 4x4, it has ABS but the drive works wheel hub assembly does not have the wire to connect. Do I need to buy another part to correct the ABS as well.

Great question Gwen! If your ABS is not working on your 4x4 Chevrolet S10 you may need to replace the sensor as well. It does not look as though on that vehicle the ABS sensor is integrated into the wheel hub assembly.

          • Q:

I have a '97 S-10 ZR2 4x4 Regular Cab. The factory assembly has a long wire coming out of it, but the only assemblies I see with the wire do not have the external ABS ring, but the factory assembly does. Will the part fit properly, and work?

              A:

If it is in fact the wheel bearing, the whole assembly must be replaced as it is an integrated unit. If it is just the lugs that are stripped they can be pressed out and replaced, but to do this correctly you need specialty tools OR have to take off the hub.

              A:

Hello, The "wheel Bearing" comes as a Hub Assembly, on 4X4 applications. That being the case, new lug studs are included. The "airplane" sound is a good analogy, it does sound like that, when the Bearing is going. It is a sealed bearing, within the whole unit.

No it would not cause excessive steering wheel play. It could cause a noise when turning or tire wobble, and shacking of the vehicle.

In extreme cases yes, but not likely your problem.
