Solved my engine surging and stalling issues. The price wa reasonable for a brand new sensor. If you are unsure about the MAF sensor being your problem, try disconnecting yours after starting the engine. Your engine will use default info to allow the car to run. If your driveability issues improve then you probably need a new MAF. This is what I did under advice from a mechanic and it worked like a charm.

I bought this Dorman MAF Sensor because I have always had good luck with their products. Not this time. My '02 GTP started kicking out P0172 & P1133 codes after about 3 months and I thought the problem may be an O2 or maybe TPS sensor. Gave up & took the car to a shop where they determined the fuel trim reading with the Dorman was -21, well outside the specs of +/- 10 from zero. Car was running way rich. Installed a OEM sensor and all is well. Advance did refund my $, but it still cost me $320 to fix the car.

Comments about Dorman - TECHoice Mass Air Flow Sensor - Sensor Only:

After using two units bought on the internet, I finally decided to spend the extra bucks and buy (hopefully) a better quality sensor. So far it has worked as advertised, cured the start/die problem when the engine was warmed up.

Comments about Dorman - TECHoice Mass Air Flow Sensor - Sensor Only:

2002 LeSabre 46K engine began to lurch/skip, and eventually service engine light came on. Advance scanned the code and it indicated MAF. My friend has a laptop with an interface to the OBD and we ruled out vacuum problems and other problems such as the o2. He also has a manifold pressure guage that also helped rule out vacuum leaks and pressure sensor problems. So, I purchased the MAF and installed. Luckily, that was it, the car runs out perfect now. The power is much more linear throughout the RPM range and smooth.

The unit came with a torx tamper resistant bit to remove the maf. About 5 minutes to do it. Time will tell. This car already had the plenum gasket replaced early on as it is a common problem. I was a bit leary that this was the problem again.

Comments about Dorman - TECHoice Mass Air Flow Sensor - Sensor Only:

Used to replace the MAF on a '00 gm 3800 SC engine. Sensor is a frequency modulated signal. New sensor read about 600Hz with key on and engine off and around 3000Hz at low idle (~1000rpm). The old sensor's frequency was all over the place(900Hz to 4200Hz) with the key on and the engine off. I determined that with both an OBDII scantool and a DMM. The car wouldn't run at all. I was able to limp the car back home by unplugging the MAF sensor, making the ecu estimate the air flow instead of using the failed sensor in range value.

Had a maf sensor replaced by a mechanic two years ago trying to fix an engine lean code. It didn't fix it so we went about replacing almost every other sensor (map, intake temp sensor, crankshaft position sensor, iac valve, new valve gasket, new vacuum hose lines, oxygen sensors, new catalytic converter every year becaus they got plugged, etc) still couldn't get the engine lean code to go away. Finally the mechanic said just to drive it until it got worse. A year later it breaks down and the code says maf sensor. I bought this one and put it on myself and the lean code went away right away. Think I had a faulty one the first time

2002 buick lesabere, wife thought transmission was going out . After driving a awile I noticed some hesitation after stopping. So at next stop trounced on it ahd it about jerked me out of my seat. So got it home and disconnected the electrical plug to mass air flow sensor and took it down the road ,no hesitation. I then got it home and reconnected the plug and took the handle of a screwdriver and tapped on sensor which made engine hesitate verifing sensor was shorted. Bought the new sensor, replaced in about 5 min. car runs perfect. You will need a set of tamper proof torx socket which I picked up for $34 bucks. Alot cheaper than paying someone else, plus you will have the sockets for other jobs!

It is a great replacement part for the original. The unit is held on by security Torx cap screws. They might have included a bit to remove and replace these screws. The car runs great and seems to have a crisper exhaust sound. Acceleration is better after the replacement.

The Mass air flow sensor was in a sealed package so i knew it had not been used before.Sometimes you wonder if the part was used and taken back to store. I did not have this concern with this product. My car runs great again and also like the cool red writing on top of mass air flow sensor. It is evident that the manufacturer is confident and concerned about quality. I will never get a re manufactured sensor again. Thank you for a great product! This car is used for transportation to and from work and I rely on it heavily. I work on my own car so I want only the best.

Hi Jessica, good question! Yes, both Dorman and Cardone branded MAF sensors are made by the same company. There is no difference between these parts with the exception that they are sold under two different brand names. This is a common occurrence with most of the OEM parts where the part will remain the same while differ in brand.

If you are getting a MAF code for your check engine light i recommend that you may have to replace the MAF sensor.
