Dorman Power Window Regulator and Motor Assembly (OE Fix)

The original Front Passenger side power window regulator had quit working (cable actually rusted and broke) about a year or so ago on my 2001 Chevy Suburban. I was not looking forward to taking this to a shop and paying out of the you know what to get it fixed! Then over this past weekend the original regulator on one of the rear passenger doors quit working only this window would not go up or stay up on its own like the other had for the last year or so. I finally decided to take both door panels off and see if this was something I could do myself to save money. Low and behold it looked like it WAS. Total time to replace both regulators was probably less then 2 hours. These replacements seem better built and stronger then the originals, definitely a few pounds heavier. Not as much plastic as the originals around the motor area and the tracks seemed like a slightly heavier gauge steel. A couple tips to keep in mind once the window has been loosened up from the brackets push the window up all the way and use a couple wedges or shims to hold it in place! The directions in the box which I only glanced over mentioned using tape or some other gadget. well I wasn't buying or renting some contraption and I knew tape wouldn't work!

The price was acceptable. It functions. The picture shows protective paint ...it does not have that. So it'll likely rust in salt air. The picture shows OEM anti-rattle cushioning on the cables ....it does not have that either. The diameter of the cables are significantly smaller than the original one from my car. One of the loops in the cable was a lot smaller/shorter ...thus making the cable take a tighter radius than the original unit.
