Comments about Dorman - OE Solutions Transmission Input and Output Speed Sensor:

I had went to advanced auto for a ObII test because my service engine came on and wouldn't go off no matter what, so it had two codes one for a speed sensor and one for a transmission temperature sensor. I bought this set if sensor's and right after i installed them i noticed a huge difference in transmission performance, before this it would bang and knock while switching gears and coming to stops as well as getting stuck in 2nd and 3rd gear sometimes and after installed it rode smooth as new, now of coarse the code did't clear until i fixed the other sensor. This was a GREAT DEAL for in and out for this price!

    • Q:

98 Elantra, would this cause the automatic transmission to not want to shift gears smoothly and even the reverse to not work at all?
Asked on 12/17/2016 by Concerned father from Moncks corner,sc

      1 answer

Happy to help, Concerned father! It's possible, but without having a thorough diagnosis, it would be hard to determine. There's a chance you could replace the transmission speed sensor and your vehicle may still have the same symptoms. I'd suggest that you take your vehicle to a certified mechanic for further diagnosis.

With reference to your inquiry on the Dorman - OE Solutions Transmission Input and Output Speed Sensor -part# 917-609, the output speed sensor on your Hyundai Tiburon would be located in the lower (looking into the engine bay) right hand side mounted to the transaxle in the front portion on the top just underneath the air cleaner. where is the speed sensor located on a 2000 hyandai elantra automatic transmission

      1 answer

The sensors are mounted on top of the transmission. One should be located below the brake master cylinder and the other one should be located below the gear selector cable.
