Well, the forces of automotive aftermarket retailing have dredged the bottom to bring you this one! The fitment of the part was absolutely horrible. Anyone who's worked on Subarus knows how well O.E. parts are supposed to install/fit; this assembly was a far cry from that.

For reference, this was installed in a 1999 Subaru Legacy GT Limited 2.5 liter with air conditioning.

First off, their description never mentioned whether it's for the driver or passenger side. This will NOT work for the drivers side, as it doesn't have the mounting boss or flanges for the coolant overflow.

Second, when installing this assembly on the right-hand side you'll notice that the bolt holes don't align AT ALL on the ends, due to the placement of the hole locations molded too far in-board. They're very tight on the tops and bottoms as well. One should never have to break out the rasps and files to modify a NEW part.

Third, the molding of the plastic electrical connector was so unbelievably poor that it would not correctly plug into the vehicle's wiring harness. I had to use a small pick to release each of the crimped terminal ends and re-use the original connector shell off the old part.

The people responsible for this part should be punished for failing to do their jobs to verify that this part will actually work in the application for which they claim. Much like a bad dog that poops on the carpet, they should have their noses rubbed in it as a demonstration of their misdeed.
