Q:Hello. I have a 2002 Oldmsobile Bravada and when the A/C runs, it blows out either to the windshield or floor. Which actuator do I need?
A:It's not that simple of an answer of which motor is it. First you must understand how many motors it has and how they operate to diagnose the possibility of replacing one. Generally there is 3 motors, 1 on the passenger side and 2 on the drivers side. The 1 on the passenger side controls the blend door for the heater core and the 2 on the drivers side control air distribution out of the vents, floor, & windshield area. There are 2 motor designs to choose from; right or left side mounting. To diagnose correctly you want to locate and view there operation as you change the climate controls. You can watch the shaft mount in the center of the motor rotate or not rotate for the area of operation they are responsible for. When one doesn't rotate for it's responsibility, it could be bad or that blend door it's trying to move is jammed. Remove that motor and see if it will rotate once removed. Remember if replacing a motor it must first be calibrated to it's position by using the controls to set it to the position of a fully closed or open blend door. Then it can be mounted in place. Hope this helps you with getting your vehicle fixed.
